Description
This study investigated the impact of nano-treating on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and fluidity of Zamak 3 alloys produced through permanent mold casting (PMC) and squeeze casting (SC). Microstructural analysis revealed that the introduction of nanoparticles significantly refined grain structures and promoted equiaxed grains. Tensile testing demonstrated that nano-treating enhanced both strength and ductility due to grain refinement and nanoparticle reinforcement. Squeeze casting further improved these properties by increasing solidification rates and reducing porosity. Fluidity tests showed a 20% increase in fluidity area in nano-treated alloys, attributed to delayed solidification and reduced grain growth. These results highlight the potential of nano-treated Zamak 3 alloy for producing higher strength, more ductile, and more complex components.
